HYROX It is a sport that is emerging in Spain, in which stretches of running are combined with strength exercises. Exactly, it consists of 8km interspersed by 8 tests and unlike Crossfit, the tests or competitions are always the same. This allows you to train the movements and be able to measure your progress in each competition.

There are several modalities, individual (open or pro, where the weights change) and doubles, which can be female, male or mixed.

This is a Hyrox competition

You start with a 1000m run and then alternate the workouts with another 1000m until you complete the 8 runs. The workouts would be:

  1. Sky Erg (1000m)
  2. Sled Push (50 m)
  3. Sled Pull (50 m)
  4. Burpee Broad Jump (80m)
  5. Rowing or Rowing (1.000 m)
  6. Farmers carry (200 m)
  7. Sandbag Lunges (100 m)
  8. Wall Balls (75 or 100)

My experience at HYROX Madrid

Personally, I usually compete individually, as a pro, but this time I had the opportunity to live the experience with a good friend, Emma. So in November/December we decided to sign up together for women's doubles, and what a great success!

We are both competitors HYROX “usual”, therefore it was time to shift into one more gear and push ourselves to the maximum.

You don't know how much I was looking forward to this competition, I had a lot of trust in us because we had a lot of work and effort behind us.

We had both come from competing less than 4 weeks ago, so we had not had that time to disconnect that is often necessary. But even so, we really wanted to fight.

The day before we met to do a small activation together, and to be able to talk a little more about the strategy that we were going to carry out during the event, since in doubles, you can distribute the exercises as you want but the race must be joint. We rode for about 20' and then we did 3x 3' at HYROX pace + 3' at a jog, and then we returned to calm.

Once that, the job was more than done. All she had to do was go home to dinner and rest.

And finally came the day. We arrived at IFEMA very quickly, because we had many friends who were also competing, and obviously we wanted to be there to see them and support them.

We left at 17:10 p.m., so around 13:30 p.m. we went to have our last meal. In my case, some rice pancakes with turkey, a few dates and a little pineapple. And throughout the morning hydrating ourselves very well with water with a little salt.

I remember being with Emma at the starting line, with goosebumps, excited for everything that was coming. She really wanted to show off all the work she had done, but above all to enjoy herself.

Throughout the race we understood each other very well and communicated a lot because although we had a planned strategy we had to modify it based on how we felt. It was very special. We were also lucky to have all our people speaking out.

Once we crossed the finish line, it was done. We had achieved it. We had been able to position ourselves absolute firsts. I would say I couldn't believe it, but that's not the case. He had so much confidence in us that we knew we would be able to do it.

It was a day full of emotions that I will remember for a lifetime.
